Klise Manufacturing, Harrington College hold competition

leave a comment »

Klise Mfg. (http://www.klisemfg.com/) and Harrington College of Design (http://www.harrington.edu/) are holding a competition to expose Harrington students to a hypothetical real world design problem in which they will receive parameters for a space, select and research an appropriate style application, and collate an interior design trim package. The competition will allow Harrington students to expand their knowledge base with regard to interior ornamentation, develop a stronger understanding of traditional design options and identify and implement various design styles within the context of the project challenge presented to them. Students will declare their intent to adopt a specific design style, research the historical background of that style, then create the space within the design language, creating a trim package for hotel bar or restaurant in a luxury hotel.

Several industry professionals from the Architectural/Design community will evaluate submissions based ability to follow the defined deliverables, in addition to evaluating the students’ ability to create a unique room aesthetic, showing balance, creativity, practicality and presentation skills.  Much of the criteria will be objective, however; there will be many subject aspects as well.
After the jurors review and select the first and second place designs, Klise will provide the first place winner with a prize of $1,000, and the second place winner will receive a $600 prize.
